The next steps
This is just the start. We have been building support for what we think is a great project and now we need a robust demonstration that it can and will provide enormous benefits to Taunton and the surrounding area.

We must prove that the ground is suitable and that the scheme can be built economically. We must confirm that there is a need to develop businesses of this type. We must ensure that the scheme can be built without harming the environment or archaeology into which it will be placed.

This will require feasibility studies. We have asked international waterways specialist civil engineers Black & Veatch Ltd (now Binnies UK Ltd) to make a start on these studies using their knowledge of ground and environmental conditions locally obtained from involvement in nearby River Tone flood alleviation schemes.

Two elements of the study have been undertaken - we have now located a water source for the scheme and have confidence that the most challenging section is buildable. We need another £20,000 to enable Binnies to continue their work. Your support will give us a huge boost and demonstrate local commitment to our vision.
